Myth: Rapid City Abuses TIFS
Rapid City’s growth is paved with the successful TIF developments we now take for granted. Rushmore Crossing, the recent ‘Chick-fil-A’ TIF, The Sports Complex, Healthcare expansion, EAFB housing, Founders Park and more.
-
Myth: Property Tax Increases
The truth is that TIFs pay for themselves, by the new tax revenue they generate.
-
Myth: The City is paying for a development
The TIF would fund the widening of Seger Road, the extension of Tish Boulevard, and sewer work - complementing the Sports Complex
-
Myth: Nobody wants this eyesore
Polling shows that nearly 60% of Rapid City want new entertainment, attractions, restaurants, and year-round experiences. Even MORE of those citizens want new housing developments.
-
Myth: The City snuck this project by you
LibertyLandUSA was initially planned in 2019 by a group of Rapid City volunteers. The development had zoning approval in 2022 and was passed TWICE by the Rapid City Council in 2025. It’s now up to us, the citizens of Rapid City to join together and do the heavy lifting for our children’s future.

Libertyland dies in the darkness
The opposition is counting on low turnout and fear to continue the false narrative of the vocal minority. Loud extremism shouldn’t control the future of our families. We believe Libertyland USA is a public gathering space and something the community will come together and support on Jan 20.
